A Napoleon salutes his troops at the historic Field of May' on June I, 1815. The Emperor Napoleon of France was forced to abdicate and sent in exile to the Island of Elba. The Guard was re-constituted and the foreign regiments elevated by Louis to Guard status had been removed. By the 28th the Emperor had recalled most of the old half-pay soldiers of the Guard to the colours.
