Z odsiecza pospieszyl im krol Jan Kazimierz, a na tyly wojsk kozacko-tatarskich ruszyly wojska litewskie, prowadzone przez hetmana polnego Janusza Radziwilla. Obawiajac sie uderzenia Litwinow, Chmielnicki wyslal przeciwko Radziwillowi jednego ze swych najlepszych dowodcow Stanislawa Michala Krzyczewskiego. Jan Kazimierz powstrzymal 15–16 sierpnia 1649 r. Kozakow i Tatarow pod Zborowem. Tymczasem dwa tygodnie wczesniej zapadlo rozstrzygniecie na froncie litewskim: 31 lipca Radziwill rozbil konna armie kozacka Krzyczewskiego w bitwie pod lojowem. | |
