Название: Switching Modulator Optimization in Isolated Power Converters Автор: Ayan Mallik, Saikat Dey Издательство: Springer Серия: Synthesis Lectures on Power Electronics Год: 2025 Страниц: 227 Язык: английский Формат: pdf (true) Размер: 17.0 MB
This book introduces engineering students and practitioners to the theoretical and applied aspects of the optimization of switching modulation techniques in isolated power electronic converters. Recent modifications to the architecture of converter systems require understanding of switching strategies for different types of power converters and how they affect the systems’ performance.
This book presents the pulse width modulation (PWM), pulse frequency modulation (PFM), and phase modulation (PM) methodologies in power electronic converters. It then discusses a range of switching techniques for optimal design of various power converters that find applications in transportation electrification, grid-renewables-storage integration, datacenter energy routers, solid state transformers, aerospace, and space. The text emphasizes the synthesis and implementation methodologies during the converter’s development, to help maximize the system’s performance.
The rapid advancement in technology and the growing demand for efficient and reliable power management have driven the development and deployment of advanced isolated DC-DC converters. These converters play a crucial role in various emerging applications by providing effective solutions for power conversion and management. Among the different types of isolated DC-DC converters, the Dual Active Bridge (DAB), LLC, CLLC resonant converters, and Phase-Shifted Full-Bridge (PSFB) converters stand out for their unique advantages and wide range of applications.
DAB converters due to their network symmetry on both sides of the isolation transformer, are known for their bidirectional power flow capabilities, which make them particularly suitable for energy storage systems and electric vehicle (EV) chargers. Their ability to handle high power densities and facilitate efficient power transfer between different voltage domains positions them as a valuable asset in renewable energy integration and grid energy storage solutions. Aside from dc-dc conversion, DABs are also utilized in isolated dc-ac or ac-dc grid-connected power conversion, such as PV to grid, battery-to-grid inverters, grid-connected front-end power factor correction (PFC) rectifiers.
