Канал имени Москвы (канал Москва-Волга) соединяет реку Москву с Волгой. Был открыт 15 июля 1937 г. Строительство канала продолжалось 4 года и 8 месяцев. При строительстве использовался труд заключённых ГУЛАГа (в 1932 г. для этих целей был создан Дмитровлаг, просуществовавший более пяти лет). С 1947 г. носит официальное название «Канал имени Москвы».
Общая длина канала — 128 км. Канал снабжает Москву водой, служит для обводнения реки Москвы (ежегодно в реку из Волги поступает 1,8 куб. км воды).
