A very interesting book on equipment in the form of guns, tanks, trucks, so on, that the Germans were able to capture from enemies, and sometimes allies, for their own troops. The book explains it from the point of view of the German military - using the extra equipment to replace equipment lost in battle, arm new units faster than they may have been able to if they waited for their own industry to meet their needs, or just to find a weapon that they needed to do the job on the front line, right then, right there. The book is small with lots of photos but not much in-depth details. But as I was just looking for basic information, the book turned out to be a great resource, and was frankly shocked on how much equipment from other nations ended up being used by the German soldier. And how happy they were to get the equipment! The photo in the end of the book showing a German soldier with a Thompson machine gun is priceless. You could find bigger, more detailed books, but the others I looked at also had a bigger price tag. The publisher, Schiffer, seems to have other military books related to the subject and I may try to pick up a few more. Why not? Cheap, small, interesting, lots of photos - what more could you want?
