«S.E.5a in action - переведено на русский язык» Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5a, один из самых известных боевых самолетов Первой Мировой войны. Он являлся типичным представителем британских военных самолетов, разработанных для боевого применения. Квадратно-угловых форм, он не обладал ни изяществом немецкого истребителя Albatros, ни миниатюрной элегантностью французского Nieuport. Спереди S.E.5 скорее напоминал фермерский трактор с крыльями. Но, несмотря на недостаток в эстетике, он обладал достаточно большой неприхотливостью в эксплуатации. Хорошая крепкая конструкция была в состоянии принять на себя большие нагрузки. Пилоты могли пикировать с хорошей скоростью, будучи уверенными, что не потеряют крылья. S.E.5 не был очень строгим по
сравнению с Sopwith F.1 Camel. Он был прост в управлении, легко пилотировался , что обеспечивало легкость прицеливания и стрельбы.
