This book presents the basic concepts of software reliability growth models (SRGMs), ranging from fundamental to advanced level. It discusses SRGM based on the non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP), which has been a quite successful tool in practical software reliability engineering. These models consider the debugging process as a counting process characterized by its mean value function. Model parameters have been estimated by using either the maximum likelihood method or regression. NHPP SRGMs based on inverse Weibull, generalized inverse Weibull, extended inverse Weibull, generalized extended inverse Weibull, and delayed S-shaped have been focused upon. Review of literature on SRGM has been included from the scratch to recent developments, applicable in artificial neural networks, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data-driven approaches, fault-detection, fault-correction processes, and also in random environmental conditions. This book is designed for practitioners and researchers at all levels of competency, and also targets groups who need information on software reliability engineering.

Computer software has become an important part of many systems in day to day life after the invention of computers. There is a rapid development of computer and information technology hence society increasingly depends on software-intensive systems. Many times there is a possibility of programming errors in the system that will cause system failure. The failures can generate enormous losses of revenues to many enterprises. There is a need to enhance software quality. This software quality is used in software reliability. How to measure and predict the reliability of software and techniques to enhance reliability have become problems of common interest in the reliability literature. Therefore, there is a great need to study the concept of software reliability (SR) from the point of view of improving the services of software.

This book is designed for practitioners or researchers at all levels of competency, from beginners to expert. It is targeted for several large, general groups of people who need information on software reliability engineering. They include:

1. People who are high-level managers, professional engineers, who use software or whose designs interface with software, and people who acquire, purchase, lease, or use software.

2. Software developers, testers, and quality assurance personnel who use and apply software reliability model techniques. This includes practitioners in the related fields such as reliability management, software maintenance, system engineering, risk analysis, and management-decision sciences.

3. Researchers and students in applied statistics, software engineering, reliability analysis, operations research, and related disciplines and anyone who wants a deeper knowledge of software reliability and its techniques.
