In the fast-growing era, the evolution of technologies plays an important role, and the Internet is one of them. Although initially the Internet was designed to connect computers and for data communication, due to explosive growth in mobile and intelligent devices, there had been frequent evolution from 2.5G to 4G. This push is also driven by the innovative applications of the Internet, the Internet of Things (IoT), and special access networks. With the imminent arrival of 5G, many communication challenges faced by today’s world may be resolved because of its extremely high data rates, low latency, scalability, availability, and coverage. It is expected that 10 million user devices would be connected to the network per square kilometre. There would be a 1000? increase in the data traffic, so there are challenges for the bandwidth efficiency.
The IoT has several applications such as smart cities, smart environment, utility metering, smart grid and energy, security and emergencies, retail, automotive and logistics, industrial automation and manufacturing, agriculture and farming, smart home/buildings, and real estate, health, life sciences, and wearables. The connectivity of a large number of devices in heterogeneous networks, energy consumption, node localization, routing of data packets, and security are the crucial challenges in IoT.
