Procopius is for perhaps the first time made accessible to a modern audience. While this is not an original translation (Anthony Kaldellis has "revised and modernized" an older translation by H.B. Dewing), it is so readable and enjoyable that it feels like an entirely new work. Mr. Kaldellis has carefully edited Dewing's antiquated English text, inserting almost 900 descriptive footnotes, an introduction (that I wish was longer!), an index, wonderful maps, genealogies, and lists of rulers, among other things.
