В весенних семестрах 1969 г. и 1971 г., я читал спецкурсы по теории эллиптических уравнений, первый раз на факультете повышения квалификации, второй - в Межфакультетской лаборатории статистических методов МГУ. Предлагаемое издание содержит в себе записки этих курсов, главы I-III читались в 1969 в., главы I, II, IV - в 1971 г.
Объясню, чем была вызвана необходимость этих лекций, дело в том, что в настоящий момент знание теории эллиптических уравнений совершенно необходимо для математиков, специализирующихся в самых различных областях. В то же время имеется существенный разрыв между знаниями студента по теории дифференциальных уравнений и тем, что ему нужно знать, чтобы более или менее свободно ориентироваться в теории дифференциальных уравнений, если возникает необходимость ее применять.
