This book is devoted to the history of the creation of the legendary American tank M3 Stuart. He was the most massive and most famous light tank of the Second World War period and his dignity showed itself well in the battles in Europe.
The production of M3 tanks began in March 1941 at the American Car and Foundry plant. The tank body was assembled from rolled armored plates on a frame from corners and strips with the help of riveting, and in tanks of late editions - in part by welding. Inside the hull was divided into two sections: a combined control and combat and motor. Between them was a partition, installed directly in front of the fan. It was fitted with oil coolers of the engine and transmission, through which powder from the fighting compartment was exhausted by the fan. Clean air for cooling the engine went into the engine compartment through a mesh-covered hole in the roof of the casing, located above the fan. Removal of contaminated air from the fighting compartment, as well as exhaust gases was carried out through the pocket between the upper and lower feed plates. On the sides of the hull, behind the sponsors, air filters were installed.
